Portrait is a general photography term that basically means any set up photo. In our modern era it is generally has come to mean family style portraits and that is how we are using it here. Portraits are particularly important because they allow subjects to look their best. Portraits can be difficult because, at first, most subjects feel a bit awkward. The glow of the lights, the backdrops, the poses- they all seem intimidating and it is the skill of a professional photographer that is needed to ease that tension and bring out the essence of the soul of the subject.

At Phil Hurd Photography we excel at portraits because we understand that first and foremost the subject needs to feel comfortable. Because we know this Phil Hurd Photography brings our equipment to your home, office, or other off-site location so that you will be in your own environment.
	In our portrait gallery you will see photos that were taken at clients homes and while we provided some basic props, the clients were able to change clothes, entertain kids, and have a great fun session. The result was real smiles, humorous moments, fun expressions, and - generational images that capture the soul of the subject.
